DECODING REGULOME
GENOME | EPIGENOME | TRANSCRIPTOME
Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (BCB) Laboratory focuses on improving female reproductive health by decoding regulatory elements in the genome.
Mission Statement
We have a sustained interest in unraveling the principles governing coding and non-coding regulatory elements in the genome (the regulome), with a particular emphasis on their roles in tissue heterogeneity and cellular plasticity within female reproductive tissues. By understanding how these regulatory factors contribute to normal and pathological processes, we aim to address challenges in gynecological disease treatment. Our research focuses on characterizing changes in gynecological tissues during key physiological events such as menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and infertility, as well as in conditions like gynecological cancers. To achieve this, we comprehensively integrate and model datasets from state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing techniques. READ MORE
IIT Jammu BCB Mentorship
Big data analysis is instrumental in addressing critical biological questions, including the identification of developmental regulators and the discovery of biomarkers in disease and cancer biology. We aim to elevate the quality of research by providing advanced-level bioinformatics and computational biology (BCB) training to students. Our commitment is to equip students with the skills needed to analyze complex datasets from sequencing techniques such as whole-genome sequencing (WGS), RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, CUT&TAG, Methyl-seq, Single-cell (Multimodal), Spatial assays and more. We believe that research quality improves when students are trained in the latest tools and techniques, complementing their foundational knowledge.
